Monte Nido & Affiliates Names Interim CEO

Monte Nido & Affiliates has named its fourth CEO since private equity firm Revelstoke Capital Partners acquired it in 2022. On Tuesday, the eating disorder and mental health treatment provider’s CFO, Jason Shulz, posted on LinkedIn that he would be taking on the CEO role on an interim basis.

“As we move into this next chapter, my focus remains clear: supporting our clients, empowering our employees, and expanding access to high-quality eating disorder treatment in the communities we serve,” Shulz said.

He joined the company as CFO in October 2024. Shulz succeeds Andy Blankemeyer as CEO. The latter was named to the CEO role effective March 31, 2025. Blankemeyer replaced Cassie McLean, who took over from Candace Henderson in November 2022. Henderson joined in May 2017.

Revelstoke acquired Monte Nido in August 2022 from Beverly Hills, California-based Levine Leichtman Capital Partners. At that time, the company’s leadership was focused on M&A-driven growth. It had 45 facilities in 15 states. Today, the company’s website says that it operates 45 locations in 16 states. It also has several virtual offerings.

Representatives of Revelstoke and Monte Nido have not responded to a request for comment.

In August 2025, the company announced a partnership with virtual eating disorder treatment provider Arise to give patients access to a range of care levels. While the move was intended to expand Monte Nido into outpatient care, it has since ended the deal with Arise.

In May 2024, BHB reported that the company laid off staff to better align its footprint with higher-performing markets.

The eating disorder treatment industry has seen several stumbles over the last few years. Earlier this year, digital eating disorder treatment provider Equip rolled out a 4% layoff despite the favorable headwinds for outpatient and virtual services.

To some degree, eating disorder treatment providers have had to rationalize growth plans as investments made just before COVID hit required rethinking as more payers and patients demand more care be provided at the outpatient level and at lower costs. Many see the growing demand for services but also recognize the fundamental challenge of translating demand into valuable enterprises, questioning whether eating disorder treatment should be considered a viable industry in the first place.
