Pinnacle Treatment Centers is reportedly in talks with Recovery Centers of America about acquiring its Recovery Works brand locations across Indiana, sources familiar with the deal have told Behavioral Health Business.

The information surfaced about a month after Mount Laurel, New Jersey-based Pinnacle Treatment Centers closed at least one of its Recovery Works brand locations in Kentucky. Its 27,600-square-foot Recovery Works facility in Georgetown, Kentucky, has also been listed for sale. In addition to its Kentucky locations, Pinnacle Treatment Centers also owns three Recovery Works locations in Indiana:

  • Recovery Works Merrillville
  • Recovery Works Martinsville
  • Recovery Works Cambridge City

These locations are reported to be the focus of a pending transaction between Pinnacle Treatment Centers and Recovery Centers of America. Recovery Centers of America declined to provide a comment on the matter at this time. Behavioral Health Business also reached out to Pinnacle Treatment Centers and has yet to receive a response.

The two addiction treatment network operators have transacted in the past on similar deals. In 2023, Pinnacle Treatment Centers acquired four outpatient medication-assisted treatment clinics from Recovery Centers of America across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. At the time the sale was framed as a divestiture of standalone MAT clinics.

Between the two networks, Recovery Centers of America’s footprint is more closely centered on inpatient facilities but does extend to other parts of the continuum of care. The three Recovery Works locations in Indiana provide additional outpatient and opioid treatment program resources to its patients in that state.

Pinnacle Treatment Centers has been backed by Linden Capital Partners since 2016. Now, more than a decade into the company, it has shown signs of possible movement out of its control. In December 2025, Pinnacle named its third CEO in the last two years. That development, coupled with its closure of Recovery Works locations throughout Kentucky and a possible transaction to sell the Indiana locations, could signal a trimming of its footprint.
